Caution: Absurdity, illogicality and buffoonery scale new altitudes in TEES MAAR KHAN.


TEES MAAR KHAN is a film that will see a big divide in opinion: The masses may admire it, while the hard-nosed aficionados and connoisseurs of cinema will loathe it. For me, TEES MAAR KHAN worked in parts only. 


On the whole, every movie buff has humungous expectations from TEES MAAR KHAN since it's already very high on hype. Firstly, fulfilling colossal expectations is an arduous task and over-hyping makes the task even more complex. TEES MAAR KHAN is more of a tribute to old-school Hindi cinema, with a fabulous first half and a strictly average second half. The Christmas weekend and vacations across the globe will ensure a record start in its opening weekend. If only its content was powerful enough, it would've truly been a tees maar entertainer!

NO PROBLEM HAS A VERY BIG PROBLEM

Bazmee's movies bestow its actors ample scope to push their comic boundaries, but NO PROBLEM doesn't. Of the central cast, Sanju tries hard to carry off his part, Akshaye is just about okay, while Anil hits the right notes and Paresh, as always, stands out. He delivers in every sequence. Kangna is wasted, but Sushmita shows a flair for comedy. Suniel Shetty is as usual. Neetu Chandra doesn't get much scope. Shakti Kapoor is funny. Baby Saloni is okay. As for Vijay Raaz, what is he doing in this film? 

Oh yes, there's a family of gorillas as well as a shoal of fish in a mini aquarium - yes, they form an integral part of this story. The gorillas appear from nowhere and save the heroes in the climax, while the fish swallow the diamonds before these gems reach the villain's hands. 

On the whole, NO PROBLEM has some funny moments in the first half, but gets agonizing towards the second half. It has several problems: It lacks a cohesive screenplay, it lacks in entertainment and most importantly, the humour falls flat. NO PROBLEM is full of problems.

Bollywood News: Irrfan Khan the new face in Hollywood

Only recently the news of Anil Kapoor playing the main villain in Tom Cruise starrer M.I.:4 created a furore in the entertainment world. Now, yet another B-town actor has been roped in for a major Hollywood film. The actor is question is the super-talented Irrfan Khan who will be playing the main villain in the new, untitled Spiderman reboot film.

Irrfan will be playing the role of Van Atter (one of the main villains in the film) and would clash on screen with the new Spiderman played by Andrew Garfield (of The Social Network fame). Besides Irrfan, the film will also feature yet another villain Dr.Connors aka The Lizard played by Rhys Ifans. The new Spiderman film is being directed by Mark Webber and is expected to hit screens in 2012.

In the past, Irrfan has been a part of several Hollywood productions such as The Namesake, A Might Heart and even Slumdog Millionaire. Now with the actor bagging a coveted role in the new Spiderman film, his popularity world over is only going to increase even more.

News: Toyota Kirloskar launched Etios

Toyota Motor Corporation yesterday launched its new car Etios in India in order to combat with giant automobile manufacturers Honda, Ford and Suzuki. Toyota has set the price to a low level to compete with the low priced auto brands and to strengthen its sales ranking from seventh position to much better place.
Etios car set for sale yesterday in India for a price of 496,000 Indian rupees (about $10,900). This is Toyota’s cheapest offering in India and its price is less than that of Honda’s City car which sells at 815,000 rupees and of Ford’s Fiesta which sells at 589,030 rupees.

RAKHT CHARITRA 2 highlights the emotion called vengeance most convincingly. It is chilling, raw, revolting, crass and ghastly, the kind that is meant to repulse you. But let's face it: It's a true depiction of human emotions. It's a film which is easy to devour if you can absorb brutality. It is for those who don't wince easy. But I'd say, watch it for its audacity and valor. Watch it to experience the work of a rebellious film-maker who never takes a break from telling an innovative story in film after film.

Movie Ratings: Phas Gaya Re Obama(2010)

PHAS GAYE RE OBAMA is an engaging film because of its largely original writing. Also, director Subhash Kapoor allows the actors enough room to interpret their characters well. Rajat Kapoor as the suave NRI is natural, Neha Dhupia as Lady Gabbar is convincing, Sanjay Mishra as the broke gangster is incredible, Manu Rishi as the helpless sidekick of the gangster is wonderful and Amole Gupte as the gangster/politician gets his timing spot-on. Although each actor pitches in a commendable performance, I'd like to single out Sanjay Mishra and Manu Rishi for making every sequence they feature in, tremendous.

KHELEIN HUM JEE JAAN SEY, based on the Chittagong rebellion, is an enlightening experience of a poignant, but little-known chapter in history. It's a film of immense significance which evokes a colossal patriotic fervor. A motion picture like KHELEIN HUM JEE JAAN SEY isn't created targeting the box-office solely. It's also made for the gratification of the senses. And that it does in sufficient measure. In an industry obsessed by opening weekend business and box-office records, this is one of those rare films that doesn't compromise on its gracious objectives for the sake of becoming more box-office friendly. At the same time, a film like KHELEIN HUM JEE JAAN SEY, although very well made, may not appeal to those who relish the customary kitsch and masala. Therefore, the film will have to rely on a very strong word of mouth to create any kind of an impression or impact at the box-office.
